The amazing textures and colors aren’t anything like those which our parents used, when vinyl had no texture and colors for window blinds were white.

The explosion of color that are today’s blinds will delight and dazzle you with the literally hundreds of possibilities that they open up to your decorating.

Venetian, or horizontal blinds are the perfect choice for a kitchen area, because they are easy care and easy clean, being made from vinyl, polyurethane or aluminum.

They won’t draw the dampness and they don’t require frequent scrubbings, or washings such as full curtains will.

Decorating with blinds in a kitchen is almost the perfect solution as used with a short valance to enhance or complement their colors.

When a wall space is not perfect in texture, or does in fact have some small imperfections the use of a colored blind will draw the eye to it, particularly if it coordinates, rather than matches the area of wall it is close to.

When the wall area is perfect in its texture and no surface flaws exist, the use of a blind that comes close to matching the color will let the wall stand on its own, while the valance draws the eye upward, so that the ceilings appear to have more height.

To do a kitchen whose walls are tan, the perfect combination against the neutral might be Venetian blinds in deep green covered with a short valance of deep apple red, which will draw attention to the color combinations and away from any imperfections in the wall space as well as accent the tan color in a superb way.

A dusty blue wall would benefit from a color that was close to it, accented by a valance or curtain of a contrasting color such as deep red or pink.

Differing textures will help to either downplay the walls, or if flat textures are used, they will draw little attention to themselves other than to please the eye with color and let the wall and its decorations such as images stand alone, and won’t interfere with that.

Those things you have on your wall.

When you choose your blinds, choose them based upon what you want the window to do.

If you would like to have it catch the eye and pull it toward the window, away from the wall or paint, then choose a color coordinating one.

If you desire to have the eye fooled into thinking that they are a continuous line, then choose one which is close or matches the wall area surrounding.
