Austrian Blinds From Bamboo Blinds
Austrian Blinds are actually a curtain, which is made with three scallops on the edges and is fitted with tabs so that it can be raised and lowered as the light requires are made with a fullness of about two times the width of the rod.
The blind is pulled up from the bottom to the top by the use of cords that are fitted on the back of the fabric.
The cord is made longer than the curtain which is what actually forms the scallops on the bottom of the blind.
This occurs even when the blind is all the way in the lowest position on the window.

When made of a thinner fabric they will emit more light but block the glare.
When made of heavier fabrics they will exclude the light and will block a draft as well.
They can be used inside or outside of the window casing and can be frilled at the edges or not as you prefer.
Austrian blinds tend to be more formal looking than many types of curtains or blinds and are popular in country style homes.
They can be hung inside or outside the window recess. If they are hung outside the recess they can be frilled at the side and bottom edges.
Press & draw seamstress tape is used at the top edge so that the blind can be hung from a wood track if you prefer this to a rod.
